Vigor Titan G9 VS Massfit G7

Many customers have inquired with us on the difference between the Vigor Titan G9 and Massfit G7, so we will be doing some comparison here to highlight why is the G9 superior.

Table of contents:

  • Space requirement
  • Allowable weight selection for cables
  • Material used
  • Accessories comparison
  • Functions
  • Compatibility with other barbell
  • Ease of use
  • Build

Space requirement

The G9 size is 178cm wide by 150cm deep. The weight storages are at the side, thus there is no need to leave additional space at the back of the machine.

The G7 size is 212cm wide by 146.5cm deep. But because the weight storages are at the back of the machine, there is a need to leave at least 10-20cm clearance at the back of the machine to be able to unload the weights.

Size:

G9 - 178 x 150cm (width x depth)

VS

G7 - 212 x 166.5cm (width x depth)

Allowable weight selection for cables

G9 - each piece of weight is 5kg, and there are 12pcs for each side. By using different pulley ratio (G9 support 1:1 and 2:1 ratio), the effective weights are as below:

2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15, 17.5, 20, 22.5, 25, 27.5, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60kg

G7 - each piece of weight is 6kg, and there are 15pcs for each side. G7 only support 2:1 pulley ratio, the effective weights are as below:

3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36, 39, 42, 45kg

In short: G9 can support smaller weight increments at the lighter range, and can go heavier for bigger muscle group workout.

Material used

G9 uses aluminium casing for the smith bar grip area, thus no need to worry about rusting issue. The front silver rect beam is stainless steel while most other parts are powder coated.

G7 uses chrome finishes for the smith bar grip and front silver beam, thus there will be rusting issue for these commonly held parts.

Accessories comparison

1) J hook

G9 uses a better designed J hooks that have a longer backing for racking back of the barbell

2) Safeties

G9 safeties length are 50cm long while G7 is 42.5cm long.

3) Band pegs

G9 comes with additional band pegs to allow using resistance bands to be attached to the barbell

4) Optional accessories

G9 has many addon attachments available:

  • Centralize lat pulldown bar - can connect to both sides of cable for effective load up to 120kg
  • Core support bar - support user down for lat pull, provide stabilizing support for cable cross, back support for hip thrust
  • Jammer arm + leg press - can attach to cables for arm/leg press exercises
  • Landmine - it attaches at the back of G9, thus saving more space compared to G7 where it is attached in front

Functions

Both machines provide very similar functions overall. But the G9 smith bar can go lower than G7, thus providing a better height for doing deadlift.

Compatibility with other barbell

The G9 is designed to fit any standard Olympic barbell.

The G7 is too wide and will not be able to fit a standard Olympic barbell. It requires a custom barbell which is longer in the middle to be able to rack on properly.

Ease of use

G9 weight storages are at the side of the machine, thus it is easy to unload the weights directly from storage to the bar.

G7 weight storages are behind the machine, thus it will require more effort to unload the weights for loading to the bar.

Build

Both machines uses similar tube size and metal thickness, however the G9 is more stable than G7 when applying the same force to shake them.

Conclusion

The Vigor Titan G9 provides similar functions, similar build as the Massfit G7. However, there are many design details and aspects that makes the G9 stands out as compared to the G7. It is definitely a better buy!
